FAQ’s
what to wear & bring to class
Wear something you can sweat in that gives you freedom to move. We suggest that you bring water and a towel, and your own yoga mat (if you’re coming to yoga or Pilates) if you have one. If you don’t have a mat, we have mats for rent for $1. You can wear indoor, nonmarking shoes for Zumba and TRX.
beginners to yoga
First, don’t worry. we’re not here to judge you or expect you to know something you don’t. You’re welcome to modify any pose, and use props (e.g., block, strap, etc.). We suggest you rest in child’s pose if you lose track of your breath. If you have an injury, or prefer to learn in a more moderate, measured environment, we suggest that you try a slower-paced class at first. If you’re looking for beginner-friendly class options, we suggest any Level 1/2, Hatha Yoga, Gentle Yoga or Yin as a start.
less “beginner-friendly” classes
Our CampYoga, Bhakti Flow, Ashtanga Flow, and Level 2/3 classes are geared towards intermediate and advanced students. We have a code noting if the class is “all-levels +” (need to know sun salutations) or “level 2/3″ (1+ year of flow style practice). Please honor these designations, so you can find the class that most fits your needs.
heat or not? music or not?
Some of our classes are heated, and some aren’t. The hottest classes are Bhakti Flow and CampYoga – so please avoid these if you don’t like heat. The room is heated to around 90 degrees, not quite as hot as a traditional “hot yoga” class —- and we do have airflow. If you check the description for classes on our online schedule, we have a code noting if a class is beginner-friendly, heated or if it has music.
how do donation classes work?
The suggested donation is $7 to $10. You can use your class series or the new student special, Groupon class, Passport to Prana, or any other promotional package for the donation classes.
can kids or adults observe classes? can kids take adult classes?
To keep things focused for classes, we don’t allow non-participating observers in the studio [there might be exceptions in certain cases, at the instructor's discretion]. Beyond this – we don’t allow children under the age of 13 to attend adult classes.
tips for pregnant students
Please consult your doctor before starting any new exercise program while pregnant. In general, you might want to start with a “beginner-friendly” class if you’re new to the practice. We suggest talking to a qualified prenatal instructor to see how to modify the practice. If you’re acclimated to a “hot & sweaty” vigorous practice, you should be able to continue with your regular practice during your pregnancy. Please let your instructor know about your pregnancy before class starts so they can help you modify your practice.
making reservations
You can make an online reservation up to a week in advance to secure your place in a class. We do release reservations 5 minutes before class starts – so your account will not be debited for your reservation. When you do show up to class, please sign in at the front desk so the crew can mark you as in attendance.
transitions between classes
Please know that we don’t have a lobby, and we open the doors 15 minutes before a class starts. Once in a while, a class goes overtime — which might extend this wait time. We do our best to start and end on time, to honor your schedule and make signing in convenient for you.
car parking, bike parking & BART
There are quite a few metered parking spaces around the studio, and some limited free parking in the surrounding neighborhood. We have bike parking in front of our building, and we’re a few blocks from the Macarthur BART station.
changing facilities
We have a dressing room and a restroom at the studio. We don’t have shower facilities. Space is rather limited, so you might want to show up for class in your workout clothes (if possible).
yoga mats, equipment, etc.
We suggest you bring your own yoga mat, if possible. We do have rental mats for $1, and we sell new mats for $25. We supply blocks, yoga blankets, and straps.
classes you can take with class cards, student promotions & coupons, etc.
With a class card, new student special promotion, comped class, Groupon, Passport to Prana, etc. you can take any regularly scheduled class (yoga, dance, Pilates, strength or otherwise). This does not include special workshops, immersions, trainings, bootcamps, lectures, etc.
